Help?300watt 8ohm amp?

Hi guys, I have one 12 inch sub that is rated at 8 ohm that needs at least 300watts. What are my options on making this sub move? Are there amps that are 8ohms that put out 300watts? If so can you list them? I can't get another sub and run it at 4 ohms because I can't find another one it is old. Or can i just run it on an amp at 4 ohms? Will it cause damage? Thanks.

What sub is this? Are you sure it is not DVC 4 ohms, that can be wired to 8 or 2 ohms?

and if the sub is SVC 8 ohms, then there is no way to just run the amp at 4 ohms, it will only be 8 ohms, no matter what. Unless you get a second sub.

i had 2 MTX Thunder 8000's that were SVC 8ohm each. Those were the only 8 ohms subs id ever seen till now. just get a 600w @4ohm amp and hook the sub up

No, nothing would be damaged at all.

Any amp can run a higher ohm then its rating, its just that the wattage output is decreased when a higher load is presented to the amp.

Find a big 2 channel thats rated at 150watts x2 RMS @4ohms, it will give you the 300 watts at 8ohms bridged you are looking for.

A Kenwood 7252 will give you the power you are looking for at 8ohms mono(340 watts RMS bridged @8ohms) for around 300 bucks CAN$, dealer cost is $210 on those so a minimum 25% profit would be about 280$.

no. see, therotically, when you double the resistance, you decrease the output by 1/2. so if you need 300wrms for your 8 ohm sub, a 600w @ 4ohm amp will give you 300w with an 8 ohm load on it.
