So I am going to be buying some audio for my cobalt.

I just want some pretty basic stuff. I don't gotta have the best system on the streets.

I am looking for quality over loudness.

Like I said, I don't need the best of the best but I don't want crap.

I don't have a cap on what I want to buy.

Here is what I need help with.

I need help picking out some speakers. I do want to amp them.

I need a pair of 5.25's for the front, and a pair of 6 x 9's or 6.5's for the rear.

I'd like to spend around 200.00 for just the speakers.

Any and all help will be awesome.

I'm positive you have 6.5's in the front, and 6x8's in the rear.

i'd look into a decent 4ch off craigslist for 75 and spend 125-150 on some nice components up front, and eventually something else for the rear fill. rear fill isnt really that important and some low powered coaxials work suffice for the rear deck. you can even run the stock 4 ohm rear speakers off you aftermarket amp for the time being until they blow or you upgrade.

my cobalt was a ***** to work on, but then again i was stuffing alot into a lil space. Id you ever get some get like 2 12's. you should be able to fit a box like that through the trunk lid side or with the back seats down.

thats an older 550w rockford fosgate 2ch for 30 bucks. you will NOT find another amp with this quality for 30 bucks. get this, for sure. make sure he tests it before you buy it.

definitly buy that for your mids and highs amp now. you'll be keepinig the gain really low to power your door speakers. When you're ready to add subs, you can find another sweet cheap deal on CL for a 2 or 4ch and use that rockford amp to power your sub(s).

6x8's for the rear. offer him 40. with his other speakers sold he'll likely sell on 40.

car audio inventory for a shop going under. i'd go with the diamond audio d3 6.5's for 75. if you're lucky you can score the hex series comp set for 200, that'd be a GREAT deal for that bnib. Even if you stick with the d3's you'll still be happy.

you can run the rear speakers off deck power and run the fronts at 4 ohms. Or you can run the speakers parallel and do L front L back off one ch and R front R back off the other ch and thus run the amp at 2 ohms. your call

hope this helps man. good luck
