I just use a lighter, works great. As long as the hair dryer has been on for a few seconds, it shouldn't take too long.

I would take that as a serious statement. Lighter fluid burns quickly, as long as you don't soak it. Most heat shrink wrap is flame retardant.

I don't understand the point of the lighter fluid if you have a lighter...can't you just hold the flame under it? lol

Yes you can use a hair dryer. Since it doesn't get as hot as a heat gun, it'll take a few seconds longer to shrink, but shouldn't take longer than about 10 seconds.

i just use a lighter, but dont hold it in one place to long, other wise it will burn. you have to sway backand forth. another trick i use is take a soldering iron just slide it around it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yes, most heat shrink is PVC, and it will burn if you get it too hot.
