Hearing Loss

Lets ask JMAC he seems to know everything. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif ... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

actually on this one you should as me as i'm taught anatomy by an anatomy and physiology major of 23 years //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. i can pull up the notes if you don't believe me

Sometimes, my stereo seems really quiet.. Other times, it kills my ears and gives me headaches. The temperature in my car wouldent have any affect on the sound levels would it?

sensorineural deafness occurs when there is a degeneration or damage to the receptor cells in the organ of Corti, to the cochlear nerve or to neurons of the auditory cortex. this occurs from extended auditory stimulus from elevated sound pressure levels in the cochlea. many teenagers with their appropriately named "boom vehicles" are more prone to hearing loss than any other group studied next to stage musicians

edit: changed and to than

also think about this, hearing loss happens in lower freqencies more often because those respective hair cells are more easily harmed. think about those of you who have grandparents with hearing problems. is it not usually harder for them to hear the voices of yourselves/fathers/husbands than it is female voices?

That's because their high frequency hearing is degraded...doesn't explain why lower frequencies could be more damaging.

Wow, that's completely not related to the subject of frequency vs. damage potential //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

no, as the hair cells that are stimulated the most are damaged the most. how is it that they can hear higher frequencies better but their high frequency hair cells are degraded

read the last part you decided not to quote //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

ive always read that high frequencies are much more damaging to your ears too. In fact ive experienced this first hand. I dont know if there are any guitar players here but if you listen to this track on a certain steve vai CD I bet it would make you get out of a car a lot faster than a rap song with bass could! (provided you had a few tweeters).

I dunno, Im for the highs in this arguement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

pull up your proof then. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

it is true that higher freqencies are more uncomfortable to listen to, but lower frequencies damage more. explain to my why many rock musicians complain of not being able to hear their bass guitars instead of the flutes and violins?

wte guys, since u obviously cannot give me solid proof as i have done, i'm outta the discussion. i haven't actually had hearing loss, but i haven't had a system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
