headunit wiring messing up lighting....

i hear ya...but if you got all the wires wired right and the illumination wires arent conencted you sohuld be ok...

but did you try wiring all three orange wires together and seeing if thats the prob?

i had to do that on my panasonic hu i used to have a couple years ago..except it was the remote wire for my amp.

yea man, i even put them all together and still have the lighting issue.... its got me stumped...

same thing happened to my sisters car when i put a cd player in i had put numerous hu's in various cars and never seen anything like it i never heard the end of it ... its still like that to this day but i know for a fact cause i checked and checked it was done very professionally ... wish someone would chime in whith a good reason so maybe i can fix hers and save the day ha ha good luck man... btw what kind of car do you have?

well ****, that didnt work.... ok heres the deal:
from the harness from the car there are 2 orange wires (1 has black stripe, the other solid orange) that arent connected to anything.

then 1 orange wire from my CD player which isnt connected to anything.

i tried connecting every possible combination of the orange wires, and still have the same problem, i even tried grounding each of them... so what in the world is causing this?

if one was + and you grounded it, HOPEFULLY you blew a fuse somewhere. Don't forget to check the under hood fuses at this point.

i never hook up the illumination/ dimmer wire's.... ever...

i install about 5-20 headunit's a day.. give or take.

just plugged the stock HU in and the problem remains, so its not my HU

Either you blew the fuse for the illumination circuit, or you damaged the circuit.

Double check the fuse, sometimes you have to test it because it doesn't look blown. Small fuses don't tend to leave scorch marks or dramatic signs of failure like big fuses.

Try to find and test the lamps and as much of the circuit as you can. Fuse to relay, relay to switch, switch to lamps, etc.
