Headunit removal?

Hi, i'm thinking about wiring my old subs to a 2002 highlander that i just bought. I'm planning to do it myself, and since this is the first time, I'll probably screw up unless i have some serious help. So i come seeking it.

anywho, I have a stock headunit, it's a bolted in dash i believe. the ones that are extra long, about the height of 2 headunits? I'm trying to locate the wires for it and i was wondering: 1. is there a way to connect wires to the stock HU from the back, with out removing the HU itself? 2. do i need to take out the headunit, and if so, how?

I've seen a couple guides around, but some are quite confusing. Any guide recommendations would be helpful. Thanks a lot guys.

Probably going to have to use a LOC for the RCA's and a switched fuse for the remote wire.

find out if theres a dash kit for the highlander. buy it and itll have instructions

for this part you could get a wire harness for this type of vehichle and just plug in and look which wire is what.
