So I'm considering retiring my x889 in search for a new SQ HU. I would like something comparable with the following: 24-bit burr brown(or better), at least 4v preouts, aux input, the usual CD mp3/aac/wma etc.. all that goodness, full Ipod integration capability, time alignment. Optional but not necessary: USB, ability to go active. This HU will be matched with an Arc amp and DLS UR36i components. I am looking for a 2007 model if possible.

300ish or more if needed. That is my first choice so far. Only thing that worries me is the pre-outs blowing issues that people have.

Only a few people have had that issue... I have seen more people have problems with Alpine Decks not ejecting CDs.

And if you get one from a decent source they carry a 2 year warranty from Pioneer anyway...

There's also the hellacious "Pioneer whine" issue with them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you're confining yourself to 2007 models, there's really no question...either a Pio P9 combo or an Alpine 9860 with the C701/H701.

Budget breaker //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

Falls under the "more if needed" clause //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Everybody needs a 1/6th octave per channel EQ and fiber optic signal transfer //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Happened to a good friend of mine and someone well respected on the forum, go tell him that his grounds weren't up to par //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

I came from Alpines as my 1st headunits, so defenitely not putting them down at all. Just the newer models are weak compared to other models with more features. Just me feel for it.

There are always ways to fix that problem. And yea I guess that can be an issue, but my experience with that headunit has been nothing but good. Oh well...
