Headunit Cutting out at high volumes

OH HAI GUISE, ok i have a pioneer deh-350p old but has everything i need from an HU.

Heres the situation, if i turn it to around 40-45~ and with my HU settings for L/M/H + the Extra settings for +- To 2k hz range all to 0. i can listen at 45 or so fine... however, my HU goes to 62 and my tweeters and speakers arent getting full power.

This situation was happening when i had my speakers hooked up to the Headunit. At high volumes 1 speaker would go out, then another, then all 4... and come back a minute later or something... or i just lose one and rest stay on.. Simple fix was to turn the volume to 0 and turn it back up and it worked again.

I assumed it was the speakers being wired @ 2ohm to my HU making it overheat which it was getting hot but thats besides the point.

Now, i have an amplifier for the 4 speakers (two tweeters, and coaxials) as it always seems, my tweeters have always gone out first followed by the coaxials.

Is it a possiblilty my headunit is just epicly homosexual? or is there a ground loop somewhere touching..every time i turn it past 50... lol

OH btw, subwoofer NEVER cuts out. Regardless of volume.

Setup:

1996 tahoe

red top optima

250 amp mechman

0/1 knu

8 guage streetwires

16 gauge knu

t3 audio 6.5 coax

Massive 1" tweets

Autotek MM2000.1D

Jensen Xa4150

Dc audio 18"

I would like to post a video of my finished build but not til this craps figured out.

I was gonna buy a new HU next friday on payday but i mean if i can resolve it, i might not :X

IMO you shouldn't have to turn the headunit past 3/4 gain (45 or so) to have full unclipped potential. You should upgrade your ground wire and see if that helps. WELL, you should do that anyway whether or not it fixes the problem just for less restricted ground current flow!

sounds like a short. make sure the speaker wires out of the deck are cut off and taped off separately. i can see how a short in the speaker wire could take out the preouts AND amplifier in some head units.

then make sure the speaker wire connections at the speakers themselves are clean - no bare copper showing. i solder terminals and heat shrink over them to ensure no shorts.
