RCA out

To run my 4 channel amp as easily as possible.

My head unit has 1 rca output. To run this to my amp can I only use the RCA output to the amp then branch out to the speakers.

Do I then wire nut the speaker wire pigtails from the factory radio or do I have to use them too?

Thanks

Do this here. That one set of RCAs may be only for the rears, and switchable for sub as well. You can expand your system with adding a parametric eq that will allow you to add several external amps to your system, and have full function capabilities as well. You may be able to find one as little as $40 shipped up to the $200 margin shipped on ebay.I recommend this to you, as it will make it easy for you to add amplifiers to your system as well as boost up the voltage to your rcas signal as well in most cases, and save you some money on keeping your existing HU, rather than replacing, and buying another, and being able to expand.Just a suggestion to you.Hope this has helped you.

But do I still only use the rca out from the HU and wire nut the factory HU speaker wire pigtails?
first- no twist wire nuts - crimp only.

if your HU has one output pair and you want to feed 4 inputs - use a RCA Y-adapter. if you get 1 RCA female to 2 RCA male (x2) and put them at the amp, you only have to run one RCA pair. If you locate a 1 RCA male to 2 RCA female (x2) and put it at the HU then you run two RCA pairs. the latter is good if you want to upgrade the HU later and not re-run cables.
