Headlights dimming

for the benefit of others: your thought with the diode is so the cap is not used by the rest of the vehicle. it would need to be a 40-50A diode to be reliable, and you would need to intercept factory headlamp wiring (cut). These diodes are around $25-30. Figure another $50-100 for the cap (new) and you are taking a chunk out of a H.O. alt purchase.
I agree it would likely resolve dimming that occurs in pulses, but it will not resolve dimming that is sustained. sustained dimming will still cause the voltage to drop and remain lower.

a good H.O. alt will be able to keep up with demand and resolve dimming by keeping voltage above 14V.

if you experience dimming between 14.4V and 14V, then tough shyt. The A/C will cause that drop as well and some cars have dimming issues from the factory based on fuel economy designs (*ahem* Honda).

a second battery will not resolve headlight dimming.

an H.O. alt can, if large enough.

a 500F-1000F cap bank can if the problem is pulsation and not sustained.

HID is a valid idea since the driver isolates the lamp.
i appreciate all the inputs, but i will have to go with keep on this as ive talked to him on the phone and he knows his shiat lol ( if u remember me ).

anywho, what i got from what you just told me is that im better off trying a h/o alt and hids.

now my problem with both is what should i get for a h/o alt and what will it cost, (im in canada)

and for my headlights, i would like them to look like they are now (normal headlights) non police heat headlights lol, is there hids like this?

the battery under the hood is just a regular battery, im not sure.. haha, but i wouldnt like to go buying things i dont need

thanks

I am gonna add you to another car audio sale group on Facebook, I know someone with a really good HID brand at really good prices and an even better warranty bro. I shouldn't be doing this, causes I am mad jealous of the Cubans you got a couple months back, mmmm, Cubans...lol. I will tag you in the post

thx joseph ill msg u ina bit

in order to have the HID's look more like stock, ask for 3000k-3500k color temp.

h.o. alts are not cheap if they are good, there are several brands to choose from. you could also have one locally upgraded if you wanted.

well ive been sold on hids, and i went with 8k. good choice?

my next step would probably be an alternator, i will report back if this solved it for me lol

???????????????they are helios hids i guess
Doesn't matter. Your issue is voltage drop.. HIDs do not fix voltage drop.. Plus plug and play HIDs in halogen based headlights blind everyone..They are not designed for HID bulbs. Then 8000k makes it even worse. The farther away from 4300k the less output you get.

the post you just made made me feel like i wasted $50 and its gonna look like **** LOL, wtg *******.

i thought my voltage was fine, it idles at like 14.1-14.2 according to my stinger voltage meter i plug into ciggarette lighter, and when im playing the hard bass it usually just drops to like 13.6, sometimes 13.2 but ONLY a few songs, i know my voltage isnt the greatest, but thats for future upgrades.

as for the hids 8k looked pretty cool, and i was actually thinking of getting new face plates for the headlights too, they only cost me $50, and im thinkin itll make the car look a little neater , and itll be brighter for me at night time? haha

baked.........

A 50 dollar hid kit 8k will look trashy tbh

I didn't know much about hid lights so I did the plug n play thing with the ones that look almost white

Way to **** bright I had to aim headlights down and run the high low conversion. I'm thinking on taking the low beams out and putting reg lights back in. But leave high beams hid

I also aimed driver light to the right so it wouldn't blind the crap out of people.

But this is still not a fix for dimming lights. I don't dim my bad but they do dim
