Head Unit Help - Please

So here is the run down, I took my sister's headunit out of the stock fitting (not undoing any harness or cord during this) to check to make sure all the wires were attached properly and not lose or burnt etc.

The original problem I was trying to fix was that one side of car (front and rear speakers) cut out pretty often, not completely, but become weaker then come back in stronger then back to normal. The car has no amp mind you.

So then after putting the headunit back in, the screen's LED was no longer working (it wouldn't light up, but showed the numbers very dimly), the radio and speakers did work at this point. I then took the head unit completely out unattaching the harness and antenna wires. I tried to pop the face plate off and realized it was much harder and more risky than I wanted to deal with, stopped, then tried to put the headunit back in. NOW the sound output does not seem to be working. Nor any other controls. What it seems like is that the radio is permanently switched to the off position, showing the time only. The radio is from a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix, and says theftlock on the face plate.

Could this possibly be some sort of fail-safe? How do I undo this?

After looking through the manual is says that IF this system had been enabled it would display a red blinking LED on the faceplate, which never happened previous to this or to this point even.

It said the LCD would also read "LOC." However, my LCD simply reads the current time.

Ideas? It must be getting power, so I know this. I simply cannot enable the radio/output at all. Also, the cassette eject button does not work.

Nevermind the last post, after checking with my sister, the theftlock light did come on before I pulled it out, and I was ignorant to that fact.

Now we have a nonusable headunit. As the number is a 4 digit code from 0001 to 9999. This vehicle was bought used and we do not know the code, nor is it stored in any database. So unless we find a way to reset the radio, we're just going to go out and buy a double din unit now. On me, it was my mistake, i'll cover it.

If anyone has any thoughts, "lols", or recommendations, post up.
