I would not send it back to DJ. You do remember he is the one that built ur now screwed up sub in the first place.I'll run it until I can't bear it anymore. And then I'll get a recone.
I emailed DJ/Audioque and inquired about this on Sunday...and still haven't heard back...*****
The only issue with a drop in recone if the "end user" uses them is 1. they get the wrong kit 2. they don't install it correct 3. they don't install it correct.Bahh their kits seem to be the problem. Id buy quality parts from members online and have a sub with much better quality parts.
We have changed spider setups a few times as well as a few other features on these subs. We have a better setup now then even a few months ago. PM me your info so I can look for your email to get your questions answered for you. We are in the middle of redoing our email setup as right now its all filtered into one place and it just gets far to congested and takes us a while to get to each email.
Remove the boot off the motor and get all the info from the labels and send that with your PM. That way we can figure out which version of the HDC you have.
Rabbit u can not blame everything on the end user. Thats what all companys do when they knowing send out low grade product. Always the users fault never the company. The only issue with a drop in recone if the "end user" uses them is 1. they get the wrong kit 2. they don't install it correct 3. they don't install it correct.
There is a reason many companies do not just offer drop in recones as variations in subs and many other "end user" issues can arise from a recone which in turn make the company look bad and yet its not their fault.
I'm not blaming all issues on the user, but it does pose a huge problem for companies. Personally I'm not a fan of even selling recones. You just do not know the skill level of those who are installing them.Rabbit u can not blame everything on the end user. Thats what all companys do when they knowing send out low grade product. I sent Rabbit a PM, I'll see what AQ is able to do, since the sub is practically new. We all know that they're rated for 1000w RMS. But, (I know I'm not the only one who remembers this) AQ used to showcase competitors they sponsored and specifically state what amps they were using.
So you rate it at 1000w RMS, but you showcase and show off people sending 3x that to the sub? Rating it at 1000w is a smart move, for warranty purposes. But we all know most people don't send under 1k to the sub.
I didn't compete with it, I had the enclosure made to their specs, had a stout RF amp, HO alt, 1/0 gauge everywhere, BIG3 (steady voltage), and MOST importantly, the gains were set with an O-scope. It can't get any safer than that!!!
