HCCA-D2400 Wiring Question

Ok, so my orion hcca-d2400 is in the mail so i need to start wiring the 1/0 guage up. First question, I cant find a way through the firewall in the car, is it safe to drill a hole to put the wire through as long as i'm not drilling into anything? Or will i end up with water in the car, or will it compromise the structure of the car? My second question is, what size fuse should i use, the amp is 1200@1 ohm, and it's 1/0 guage at about 12 feet of wire, so i was thinking about 150 amps, does that sound about right? Or should i go lower for the sake of the amp?

Anyone? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif Also, I guess i'll add to this, if i'm fusing at the distro block do i need to fuse it up by the battery still? And also, if i'm runnin the d2400 and my mtx 75x4 @4 ohms also, Is the 1/0 goin to the distro then 1/0 from the distro to the d2400 and 8 guage to the mtx going to be enough? Sorry if this sounds confusing, but I could really use the help.

ALWAYS fuse at the battery end, no matter what you do at the amplifier end. Within 18 inches of the battery. For fuse size, which fuse are you talking about? In between the battery and distro block? Or on the distro block to the orion?

Thanks for the help man, got it all figured out now though, gonna go with a 150 amp fuse by the battery, send the wire back to a distro block in the trunk split 4 guage to the 2400 and 8 to the mtx. Thanks for the help anyways.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif I still dont know where/how i'm going to run that wire all the way back, anyone have any ideas? Drivin a 93 sable.

Laying down wire is one of the few things I would say to do without planning. Because you never now what you're gonna get until you're actually running it. Protect the wire whenever it is contacting sharp metal. You may wanna search google or something and see where other people have ran their wire thru the firewall. You might have to drill a new hole and in that case you will need to purchase a rubber grommet to protect the wire and also your interior.

Use a rubber grommet went running the wire through metal, try to see if the orion manual states how many amps it will pull at maximum level and use a fuse for that rating at the distro block for that amp. At the battery fuse, use the combined amp ratings for both amps for the single fuse. It is better to use a smaller fuse than needed than a larger one, blow the fuse before you destroy your electrical system
