8 to 4 guage

Right now I have 8 for my sub but was going to upgrade to 4..pretty simple just follow the 8 through with 4 instead? This is my first time messing around with the amp/sub install, had it done for me, just look at it under the hood and peek at the wires running through the car every once ina while out of curiosity, hopefully the 4 guage fits where he hid the 8. Anything I should watch out for? rules of thumb (ie. don't connect this until you do this, etc)? Trying to get some info before I try next week. BTW, I'm going to order an amp kit from knuconcepts(spelling) so I should have everything I believe. I know I could search but just wanted a confirmation if switching out my 8 to 4 guage would be as easy as following it through and putting in 4, thanks

Oh one more question, I've read that you should run the RCA's on the opposite side of the power/remote, is this true in my case for the sub amp? or just for speakers?

I dont understand what you mean in your case?? You should always run rca's on the opposite side of the power, in any case.

Putting the power wire in is about as straightforward as it gets, especially if you already have a wire to guide you. You might have trouble squeezing another wire through the firewall, but it can easily be done. To get under the carpet you may have to snap off the trim pieces. Like I said it is all pretty easy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks for the reply haha I don't know I thought I read about the RCA's in a "ground loop fix" thread, maybe not though, and I've heard that ground loop issues come from the deck if you aren't amping your speakers so yeah..is that what putting it on the other side is for? ground loop issues? or is there another reason

The power wire may introduce noise into the RCA's. It is better to be safe and keep them seperate. Somebody else needs to chime in on the ground loop issue because I don't know.
oh ok, I'll do it that way just to be safe, thanks for the info though
