Having Trouble with Subs

To run the system that you want, the whole electrical system( alt included) needs to be up before you get the new amp running. Do what I said in my prev post. Sometimes poor grounding between the batt/ alt/ engine/ frame can be a big problem especially on older cars. Some people havbe reported that big 3 was the cure for their poor electrical performance. IIRC the older pontiacs had 90 or so amp alts, which will not be good enough for any kind of decent sized system. If you get an upgraded alt without doing the big 3 first, you may keep having the same problems you are now. that is why I gave you the order that you must do you electrical in.

New big alternator (biggest we could find) i believe 200 (whatever they are rated at)

we also have a 1000watt amp going to the mids and highs
Is it a 1wire alt from jegs or summit or someplace? If so, you are probably putting very little current out at low/ medium rpm, and only able to get the 200 amps at high rpm. If you can, return it, and buy a good quality high output alt from ohio generator, iraggi, excessive amperage, just to name a few. They do alot better at low rpm than those others. DO THE BIG 3!!!! Have you done the big 3?
