Having my Amps mounted on the Fold down Seats. How would that affect Sound when seats

thinking about mounting my 2 amps to my fold down rear seats. I plan on facing my box where the subs fire forward toward inside of car. When the seats are up would that have an effect on sound of the subs ( ported vented and tuned box)? Ofcourse the bass would be bouncing off of the amps and seat so not sure how that would affect the amps and all. I mean for the most part as I'm driving I can have the seats down and put them up when I stop to a store or something, ect. I will have for my one or 2 subs, 1200-1500 W by the way. Just considering this all in setting up my new system in the stang. The brown seats isn't my car but the black ones are. That's an image off my previous system. Everything is pulled out now. Excuse the mess lol

Thanks guys

Id think your better off having the subs facing the rear, unless its completely sealed off youd probably lose output because you have nothing for port and sub to reflect off of. I could be wrong but by what ive seen bass needs something to reflect off of. Which is why trunk cars usuall have sub and port aiming at something such are rear, roof, side walls

With all of my new power with this new system I might not notice much of a difference to my liking being that the most I have had since 96 is 400-450 total sub amp watts from my Orion 225 hcca. What I will do though is try it both ways. I'm sure it would sound better overall bouncing off the trunk but then theres the rattle. I might not sound deaden the car right away. Might get to put some under license plate and spoiler initially though. Another reason for mounting amps to the seats is I can move the box around without having to unplug the amps or anything. Mounting amps to box means running the wires a little longer so i can maneuver it out of the way to unmounts the amps before moving the box though it might only be once i move the box around to see which I'd prefer. So basically I think if I have 1200 to 1500 W of true power, that difference up from 400-450 might be significant enough that i'm totally satisfied. Car won't be in competition or anything by the way. I just want nice tight bass, nice thump, not that rumbling bass per say but punchy and tight

Build an amp rack its not hard, a $15 jigsaw, some screws, an $8 piece of mdf and an hour is all you need
and mount it where?

space is limited in the stangs trunk plus depending on where it goes would determine how much work needs to be done to remove it to get to the box or vice versa. That's another reason I considered the fold down seats

You need to port the box and tune high around the 40 hz range.

jeff I know I'm going to get the box ported n tuned. Was your last comment in ref to my last reply about my thoughts on going from my last setup to this one and howi feel the subs facing front and possibly not sounding as good wont affect me?

I dont wana make this whole thing seem complicated lol just wondering about certain things. I remember having my last set up in the speakers facing the trunk with the seats up and I think it made a difference also

every car will be different, some cars will be louder with it walled and sealed off from the trunk and others will have close to zero output. However, if facing the cabin sealed off from trunk is successful, the bass is a lot more punchy and clear, facing the rear cancels a lot of upper bass(thats where you punch and tightness is).

gotcha, I will try first facing the cabin

jeff what do you think about the Creshendo symphonies amps

good amps
cool. Now its just a matter of me deciding which subs I want to go with since I want 2 subs , probably 2 10 inch maybe Dayton or the JL audio w6v3 which require a very small box also but are $350 at cheapest I've found a piece. Still considering the sundown E's and creshendo has an amp that will do I believe it's 1500x1 @ 2 ohm so I would be able to get the D2's in that regard.

I wish there was a way to put a sticker on the Daytons without the sticker blowing off lol. A little plain jane

you can buy replacement sundown audio dust caps and use black CA glue you can get from a local hobby store. They are 1 dollar each. email sundownz@sundownaudio.com for a 12" dust cap quote.
