All the casing does is ground out the bridge rectifier and Voltage regulator to the motor everything else is isolated from the casing with rubber.
Ask around - - My Blazer had a 105 too and I wanted it at 240 and the case must be new because nothing over 160 fits - its too much winding etc. It also takes a special power assembly cable. Dont let um BS you.Why yikes

i meant buying a when buying the kit from springfield electric( link on up post)YEs it takes a specific amount of coil wire, graphing it, magnetics etc and a cable. Its easier and safer to just get one done right.
Well I did it and it fits just fine. I am very impressed. I did have to change the pulley but it was only like 18 bucks. I don't know about yours, but mine was fairly simple. But I am good with cars and do all the work on my car.how hard is it to rebuild an alt?, any special tools required?
