i got my 15 in and got it sounding pretty good now but on notes lower than about 38Hz my hatch jumps up and down and takes away from the sound. i had some one hold it down and it sounds sweet as hell, any suggestions on how to keep my hatch from jumping other than drive around with someone sitting on it?

its held down tight in the center. i don't think the weatherstripping will help because both of the bottom corners jump up and down about 1/2" or so. . . more than weather stripping would take up. i adjusted the latch to hold the hatch down tigher and it is so tight that i have to almos sit on it to get it to unlock.

hyundai excel. i cant turn the sub. the enclosure i built is angled on the back so it sits flush against my back seat. facing back is the only way i can go

does someone have any suggestions, i wanna have this fixed but tommorow cause i have to show up my friend with the 2-10"hcca that hit 178. . . remember him. he told me the other day when i got it, was displacement didn't mean nothing, and box didn't mean nothing, it was all about the power u feed them. and i wanna show his *** that its moe about the box than power. but i can't show him up cause my sh*t is rattling and taking away from the sound. . .BAD!someone help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sick.gif.b1847c8dabbfeeddbcf1a78052249e10.gif hehe i ain't never seen this one.hehe

i readsomewhere 1/4" weatherstripping on the metal part of the hatch where the seal is, and 1/4" on the the seal itself, 1/2" seal. do you think this will do anything? i think i might have to try it, couldn't hurt.

it SHOULD reduce the amount the hatch is able to move. Even if you just run it along the corners where its able to move should make a difference. But maybe running strip around the whole thing may be best??

Try it and see what happens. It would only take a few bucks and a few minutes to try. It certainly wont hurt to give it a shot.

im trying to stay cheap so would rubberized undercoating spray( for the underside of your car) work for deading the sound? i.e. if i sprayed it all an the inside of the hatch and stuff, on the metal?

ok, i put weatherstripping all the way around my hatch on the hatch and the seal. and it still jumps, does anyone have any other suggestions? i'm open to any ideas?

get that hatch welded shut //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/clap.gif.178cba2c538c68e720c727fcb024b19c.gif

no really, short of that there is not going to be a cheap answer. only thing i can think of thats cheap and easy is add ALOT of mass tothe shutting edges of the hatch (specifically the corners) cause the only thing holding the sheetmetal down is the latch, which is central and not very helpful here. adding mass will help make a tighter and heavier seal.

i was afraid of that. . . it takes about 150lbs to hold it still. one of my friends has to put one hand on each corner and put all of his weight on it to get it to stop. i thought about welding it shut, but i didn't think thay would be such a good idea.
