I had never heard of ribbon tweeters til a few days ago... I am curious if anyone has heard/use them and what their impressions were...
Ok, thanks! I will keep that in mind.I have a set of Infinity Kappa's here that use a ribbon style tweeter.
I love them but just beware, ribbons DO NOT like any kind of clipping!
They are very fast and detailed IMO but will not take much abuse.
These were exactly what I was looking at...I have always wanted to try these out.https://www.madisound.com/store/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=136&products_id=8473
Thanks for the info, I would maybe try them in my dash.My home towers use them, one top firing and one front firing per side (in addition to dome tweeters) those sound good, but there's so many drivers in them it's hard to say what part the ribbons play. Mostly you see them in HT applications. I used some planar mids for a bit in my last car that worked pretty well, but the ones I used were rather particular to how you aimed them... Another downside in the car is if you cut panels to mount them you're pretty much stuck with that style because the hole will be an odd size. Would like to use mine in my jeep but haven't taken the plunge to cut 4X6" square holes in the doors
Awesome, thanks! 1-5 watts?!Pretty rare things to come across in the day-to-day.

Thats crazy, last place I would think of.Believe it or not, my local Walmart has some ribbon style tweeters on Clearance. I don't have money to burn right now, but they look pretty good for the $55 they're asking. Can't remember the brand off hand (off brand).
