Has anyone here ever ordered anything from True Value Electronics?

They are one of the vendors that sells electronic items on ebay. I purchased an Alpine 9887 from them which I had a problem with and had to send back for a replacement. I purchased the HU brand new, but the preamp outputs went dead with less than 2 hours of playing time. According to UPS tracking info, the vendor has had the returned itme for a week now, but they still haven't sent out the replacement HU. I contacted them and they said the HU was turned over to their returns department and when they hear from them, they'll be able to give me updated info. I have done everything they require for returns (i.e. included a money order for the $25 restocking fee, included a letter explaining what's wrong with the HU, made sure the HU was packaged correctly and all the included items were sent back with the HU, etc.), but still they seem to be dragging their feet on this. I can't think of a single reason why they still haven't sent out my replacement after they've had the returned item for a week. Have any of you had any dealings with this place and if so, what was your experience like? It sounds to me like they're intentionally dragging this thing out much longer than necessary. Do I have any recourse?

 
Good luck getting something fixed or returned within a weeks time, esp with Ebay dealer. Was it a B-stock item? I doubt they are an authorized dealer and they are prob. trying to fix your unit so they dont have to ship out a brand new one. They will most likely drag their feet for another week or two.

I don't know what a B-stock item is, but I do know they are not an authorized Alpine dealer. They said they will replace the item, not repair it and will hold them to that. I wrote down the serial number of the unit in case they send me the same one back.

 
These effin' bastages still haven't replied to my email. I'm about ready to go postal on their *****! I'm serious, do I have any legal recourse I can take against them?

 
Just to give you an update, I have reported this business to both the ebay and Paypal resolutions departments. I received an email from ebay and they said they have restricted this business' account until they can resolve the issue. I haven't heard back from Paypal yet. My guess is I will hear from the buisness fairly quickly if they're at all interested in continuing to do business, or they're on their way out of business (which wouldn't surprise me given the way they treat their customers) and I'll never see a replacement HU or my $300+ again. Whatever you do, don't do business from this place!

 
Just for chits and grins I Googled the names this company uses (they have several) and I was able to find one with a phone number that had the same name which was located in the same state, but had a different address. I called them and asked if they were affiliated with the True Value Electronics store that's listed on ebay and the guy said (in a heavy middle-eastern accent, which they all seem to have) no, but then right away he asked why. I told him I purchased a CD player from them that was defective, had returned it for a replacement, but I have not heard back from the business in a long time after emailing them several times. He then all of a sudden comes up with a phone number and tells me to ask for Nick. I call the number and ask for Nick and the guy asks why (again, with a heavy middle-eastern accent), and I give him my name and explained my situation. Right away he recognized my name and said they haven't sent out the new HU because they are out of stock. He said they are getting more in next week and he will be shipping a new HU then. He also said he will email me the tracking number when it ships. He didn't ask me anything about my reporting him to the resolution departments and I didn't ask him why they weren't answering my emails, but it appears they are still in business and I will give them one last chance in case he was telling me the truth. But if I don't receive a tracking number fairly early next week, I will become the biggest pain in the a$$ they've ever had.....now that I've got their phone number!
