Has anyone ever installed door speakers in a Ford Escort '99?

Everything I have checked says that it needs 6.5 inch speakers. I measured my stock speakers, and they're 6 inch. I measured my mounting diameter, its 5", and my mouting depth is 2".

what do I need for my car doors?

I'd guess the same... except circuit city, best buy, sonic electronix, and a fitment guide online says 6.5. Maybe with a mounting ring.

But the smallest mounting diameter for a 6.5" ive found is 5.5". But someone told me his friend has exiles in his escort.. which are 6.5, with a 5.5 mounting depth.

:/ best thing to do is buy what a set, see if they fit, and return them if they don't... or just buy a trial pair knowing that you'll return them just to check the correct size... 6.5's MAY fit... but doesn't mean you have to put them in, ya know?

that may work. I went to a local shop and asked them, but theyd charge me.. and no return policy.

Thats a very good idea though, I can go to best buy and do that.

Maybe actually buy a pair of dual coax's rated at 50 rms, since my right speaker is completely blown, and just use that to hold me over til I get my comps in.

I know I can get 5.25" and just buy an adapter ring, but that loses SPL. I dont really want to resort to that, but if I have to, I will.
