I just found this subwoofer on ebay...and it actually looks like it could be pretty decent.

Ok...is that a good or a bad thing? The sub looks pretty mean and the power handling and xmax look nice too. what sub do you have that uses the same basket?

lol yeah i'll let you know how it sounds and performs. I'll be using my phoenix gold octane r 1500.1 to test it out. most likely the sub will end up in my g/fs car.

the cerwin vega vmax also uses a 2.5" voice coil. polk audio and infinity make subs with 2.5" voice coils as well...I don't think it's that big of a deal.

There's nothing wrong with a 2.5" coil....... unless your talking a top of the line spl woofer. There's plenty of great driver out there with 2.5" coils. And no comment on the basket.

Let us know how it preforms you got a claimed 18mm of Xmax. Potential is there to get loud

and the Fs is 22Hz!

In order for it to handle 1600wrms, it would be a big deal. But since that's definitely not RMS, you should be fine. The suspension looks to be pretty soft so I doubt you will really need to put much power to it anyways (depending on enclosure volume that is).

i started another topic about this sub. It's an alright sub, sounds pretty good. I had it hooked up to my 1500 watt phoenix gold amp and it handled the power alright. but i would not recommend that amount of power daily. I tested it in a 1.2 cf sealed enclosure. for 80 bucks i would say it's worth it.
