H/U volume 0, Minimal gain on amp, STILL VERY LOUD!

So yeah, here's my setup:

- Clarion DXZ735MP Headunit

- Alpine MRP-F240 40wx4 Amp

- Polk DB5250 Coxials all around (4 of them)

And here's my problem:

I have just hooked up the headunit RCAs to the amp, and everything works perfectly fine, except for the fact that it is EXTREMELY LOUD even at volume 0 and no gain. I cannot tune anything on the H/U, not even balance or fade, nor bass or treble. I can't tune anything.

Why is it so loud? Please help me, I have no idea why it is doing this and I hate driving around with the music so loud.

my guess would be defective head unit i cant think of anything else.

just return it, get a replacement and you'll be happy.
