Guys i am going active tomorrow

it'll probably sound better. IMO you really see the drastic change when you go from passive 2 way to active 3 way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

get yourself a some 3in dome midranges, some inexpensive mdf ring cutouts (paint them) and get creative with mounting them near the dash. run the 9887 to the 2 amps 3 way active and put a preamp (line driver maybe) with a line out (or go cheap and just get some rca splitters). the sub signal will share with the midbass signal coming off the deck. make the lpf on the deck what the midbasses need to be cut off at. use the hpf on the midbass amp to filter out 80hz and below (or whatever you may need it at). use the crossover and ssf on the sub amp. 3 way + sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif it'll rock your face off.

just suggestion for a future project. having 2 sets of nice components should should really nice. 1 set alone never was able to keep up with my substage, and i see we're in the same ballpark.

I've been active for a while now and I'm still learning. I do have it sounding better than it did when it was passive, but there's so much more I need to do. The Jeep will probably forever remain passive, even though I'm wasting the potential of a great HU in there.

true , active processing doesn't equal better sound. It equals more ability to achieve that better sound. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

just by going active, your setup won't automatically sound better. It will have more potential to, imo, if you have a slight clue on what you're doing.
I was just about to say this.

Going active wont make your system sound better. All it does is give you more options for slopes, crossover points, etc. And if you do it right has the potential to sound better. If you F it up you have the potential to make it sound worse than the passive counterpart.

On a side note. Hope you have a crap load of time to tune. Thats the only reason I havent ventured into active yet.

I'm sure if I went active in the Jeep, I'd have plenty of time to tune it. I'd sit in there all the time and work with it. The Caprice isn't my daily driver and that's probably part of the reason I haven't come close to fully utilizing my active setup in there. To note on what was said above, my Caprice did sound worse active than passive until I really started tuning it. It's going to consume a ton of your time. I'm not saying you're not capable, but good luck.
