Dude attaches Home Windows AC to his car

After three years of driving his car without an air conditioner, Scott Dawson an engineering student University of Houston decided to take things in his own hands and instead of paying $1200 to fix the air conditioner he came up with a novel idea. He bolted a home window A/C unit to the roof and wired it to the car.

it was probably cheaper to do that, he must of had all that ish laying around...i bet that bish is cold as f*ck though...those things cool off rooms real well...necessity is the mother of "invention" haha

lol
If he could do that he could then install a new compressor and recharge his refrigerant.
My bet is going to be that the 110vac window unit costs considerably less than a replacement compressor for his car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Depending on the car compressors can be exhorbitantly expensive.

The one for my freggin' Geo Prizm (not a fancy car by any stretch of the imagination with its Toyota Corolla powertrain) lists for around $600 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Looks custom. I would have mounted the AC in the trunk and have a drip line to the outside of the vehicle. I would also remount the controls to the front of the vehicle.

Yeah that is a great idea until he gets into a wreck and someone is killed by a 80 pound air born air conditioner.

When he gets sued into oblivion be will regret his ingenuity.

prowler i have that same car!!
Yeah?

Mine's a '95.

Base-model, 1.6L, no power anything excepting brakes and steering.

Oh - I do have the instrument cluster that included a tach and I have adjustable-delay intermittent windshield wipers.

That's pretty much the beginning and the end of the options list for this one....well, and I do have A/C which I had to have fixed two years ago hence my knowing how much a freggin' compressor for one of these little bastards runs...

fuckin engineers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Man, I'll bet he could sell those setups by the hundreds down here in FL. Can you imagine how cold that must get? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
