Gun owners beware!! v. ammunition accountability

Is this a good idea?

But honestly, what criminal is going to break into a house to look for bullets?
A crack head, a fiend, someone planning a bank robbery, someone robbing a store, maybe a armored car robbery.

First and foremost, you can't guarantee a random house will be the house of a gun owner.
This is true, but if their on something all thats in their mind is getting some bullets

Also, bullets/guns are not exactly the simplest things to find. Typically they're hidden, away from children and guests.
Which is why they'll most likely slit your throat in your sleep and then they have all night to look for the bullets.

Breaking in to steal jewelry/money/valuables is simple. I walk straight into your bedroom and start looking. Bullets aren't going to be found as easily.

See above comment , you're already dead, they have all night to look for them as well as stealing everything you own. To get a a quick fix from their dealer, or to stock up for their next heist.

I guess you're right lol
All I am saying is IF this would help catch a few criminals I think it would be worth it. If it is going to cause other problems maybe not
Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

Consider the long term implications of the laws that get passed.

Well if someone steals your bullets, then report them stolen. Simple as that. But I really dont care. If someone broke into my house and tried to steal my bullets, he better think twice.

Why go through the trouble of stealing bullets when you can make your own easilly. And all the bullets that are not coded will not be discarded anyways, So I really dont give a **** about this bill.

Pretend you're a crack fiend. You have a 50/50 ish chance (for the sake of guesstimating) of this house having bullets.

You have the same chance there's a 40 year old man in his underwear with a gun aimed at your head when you walk up his stairs. And he has bullets... you might not.

Also, the average person doesn't keep 40K rounds at their house. You're going to make off with what, one or two packs?

So the question is, break into a house, or break into a store?

Which is why they'll most likely slit your throat in your sleep and then they have all night to look for the bullets.
The average gun owner has a gun for protection. They're not relying on their ears to protect them. They have alarm systems, etc, that will wake them up when gun use is a possibility/necessity.

See above comment , you're already dead, they have all night to look for them as well as stealing everything you own. To get a a quick fix from their dealer, or to stock up for their next heist.
Alarm goes off, I wake up and shoot you, or you run away.

"Hey Joe."

"What?"

"Go in there and get me some bullets for a murder I'm comitting"

"Fuck that man, those bullet codes will get me caught"

"Report them stolen, then the blame can't be put on you"

"Wow, how long did it take you to think of that"

"Two seconds"

Some scenarios:

I'm a criminal or a crack head. I break into your home and steal your bullets. Putting your family at risk , possibly you waking up or startling me. I don't give it a second thought to put a bullet in your head, your family runs to the steps to whats going on, next thing you know your family is laying on the ground dead. Because I had to break in and steal bullets that are coded and can't be traced back to me.

I break into your home and no ones there, I steal a lot of stuff including your bullets. I go out on a shooting spree in the hood. Bullets get traced back to you due to the coding. Even as a law abiding citizen your gonna go through a lot of shit to get off, and in the process. Possibly losing your job, your home, being in the paper as a murderer until cleared of the charges. Not to mention even if your cleared, you're still gonna get labeled as a murderer that got off on a technicality by people. Just because that's the way a lot of people think. That will follow you around forever, that murderer that got off on a technicality.

But would you be so frivolous with your bullets, now that they're in such short supply? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yeah same goes for guns, but anyways, there is always a way to think around something, but more control helps find the stupid criminals, because no doubt there is going to be alot out there.

long term implications = V for vendetta scenario
x2

besides this isnt going to stop that many murders if gangsters see there are coded bullets sure homicide by guns may go down but other homicides may go up. this bill is just more pain in the *** for the law abiding citizen.

another scenario:

in the year 2011 you go buy bullets so you can go shooting legally. there is a person who would like to get some bullets that are not coded to him. he sits out front of the gun shop watching people and watching what they buy. he sees you bought ammo. he follows you...

The "why not" is that when it comes to giving up your individual freedoms to the government, you don't start the process going by allowing the first inch into your citizen ***...LOL!
PATRIOT Act...BAD idea. Gun control...BAD idea. Prohibition...BAD idea. War on Drugs...BAD idea. Jim Crow laws...BAD idea.

Funny thing about freedom...those who would take it away come from both the Left and the Right. Keep your eyes open.

I'm going to have to agree with everything this man has said within the first couple of pages.
