Gun issue

The discussion should pertain to wether or not the man was right in doing so, and wether or not the law should be changed to include school board functions not taking place on school grounds. Hows about dat

Guns don't kill people.

People kill people.

The guy followed the letter of the law, and I believe the law is a sound one. Obviously he's responsible enough to call the local police to see if his actions are legal, so I don't think he'd be one to purposely discharge his firearm at a school board meeting. I'd support what he was doing.

x2. took the words right out of my mouth.

nothing wrong with protecting yourself and your family and exercising your rights. if i attended that meeting, i wouldve thought, "now theres a guy whos wife and kids probably feel really safe."

Do the cops have to check thier guns at the door too? He didn't do anything they were doing. I personally would have left mine in the car, but if it's all legal, good for him. The state can pound it, and so can those crybaby tools @ the school board.

VA is a dictatorship, in more ways than this //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't know. "Gun control" (I put that in quotes for ironic effect) is one of a few issues I side with "conservatives" on (also quoted, because it's a silly label). Putting up more laws is only going to stop the people that would be responsible enough not to act stupid in the first place. The true people we have to look out for are going to do it anyway.

Nah, no dictatorship here. It's a Communist Wealth State //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif What kind of sick communist bastages wouldn't even allow a man to sit on his porch of his own house and drink a beer ????? Surprisingly though it is rather easy to obtain a concealed weapons permit here provided you have no criminal record. I agree the guy was a very responsible gun owner, I'm mean hell the guy called the police to make sure before hand. Can't get much more responsible than that. Maybe instead of worrying about banning guns at school council meetings. They should stop making retarded decisions that would push anybody to use a gun at a school council meeting............ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

LOL, very true. But can we not sit on the porch and drink beer? I just got here so I'm unsure about the laws....

And I agree with the aforementioned points. As the article stated, those who are responsible enough to gain a concealed weapons permit will most likely not be the ones commiting a crime there, but rather helping prevent a crime. There are still some retards who manage to get thier permit though.

I posted this to discuss because in some of the shit flinging festivities I noticed a big diversity when it came to opinions on guns, and i wanted to see what those people had to say about this.

i believe that man did no wrong at all. he took it upon himself to call the police and make sure it was ok even after he had read the law in writing just to make sure he read it right. i carry a gun myself and would do the samething if i was in that position. the whole purpose of carrying is for protection, so you don't carry it that one night well what happened to the protection. its bad enough that you must carry because you don't feel as if the law enforcement can keep you safe enough. i myself live in north philly and its one of those places not to be caught in after dark unless you have lived here all your life. i carry for protection and bottom line is he was correct and i would do the same if in that position.

If the police want to be d!cks, yes it is illegal to posess any open alcoholic beverage or container containing an alcoholic beverage in public. And due to precedents set from previous cases, the communist wealth of Virginia considers your own yard a public place. ( been there, done that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif ) Most of the time they don't really bother. But round these parts where police have nothing better to do. They like to nitpick......bastages //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That is rediculous.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Changing the law won't do anything. Moving the location of the board meetings isn't going to change anything.

Anyone who is going to follow the letter of the law isn't going to do anything rash with their gun anyways. All it would do is infringe upon the rights of those law-abiding citizens.

If someone is going to be crazy enough to go in and shoot up a school board meeting, they're going to do it regardless of what the law states. Changing the law isn't going to deter any of those types of people.

That's absolutely silly. What legal jurisdiction do they have claiming private property as public?

It's like the radar detector laws - technically those should be nullified, but the only reason they're on the books is because it would cost too much to fight a case to change the precendent.
