Guitar info needed!!

yeah the links don't work. I learned to play on a acoustic guitar first (played on it for like 6 months) and then for my b/d my parents got me a package deal, a squire guitar with a amp. I'm not sure which package deals you were looking at but Squire isn't to bad ;P.

i heard it was easier to learn on electric..but then again iam not really intelligent in the guitar area....yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

the only reason I could see why it would be easier is you don't have to press your fingers against the frets as hard as you do on an acoustic. but then again maybe my teacher wanted me to do that so I would build strength in my fingers, /shrug.

That setup looks fine, if this is just starter stuff I don't think you can really go wrong.

cool. thanks! Do you know any sites or programs that teach you to play guitar? I wan tto learn on my own and because i really cant afford a teacher. thanks again

Several things...

If your acoustic is hard to play, but electric strings. They will work fine for practice and learning.

I have not seen either "package" you are speaking of but, dean is a decent brand. I picked up a used American Fender 12 string acoustic a few months ago. LOVE it. Paid $300 for it. Great shape.

I perfer Fender acoustics. They are nice IMO.

Electric I have several guitars and basses.

I perfer Gibson electrics and Fender basses.

Before you buy anything I suggest you to to a local music store and talk to someone there, tell them what you are wanting it for. They will help you. Lessions there shouldnt be too expensive too.

yeah I know about the acoustic thing I was just saying. I don't like gibsons just because they weigh to much and when you are jumping around on stage the last thing you need is a guitar that is heavy as crap. Fenders are ok ( personal preference) I like the feel of my epiphone les paul, or whenever I got to play with a wolfgang(sp) it was bad as*.

but yeah you should go to a local store and play with some guitars, the only reason my lessons were $$$ is b/c I had a guy come to my house. it shouldn't be much though
