The Birds The Word!!!!!!!
Ok so i bought this Orion HCCA D5000 from Ampjunkielikeme about 6 months ago For $400 off Ebay/ Paypal and i finally am trying to put it to use. Mind you my system is costing me about 3000 bucks so thats why ive took so long to fully test it if you were wondering. All i did was fire it up on the bench and it turned on with no light codes so i was cool with it. Dumb *** i know. Ok so it looks like there was some sort of repair done to the RCA input/output. You can see the melted plastic from the soldering iron when they soldered the blue wire to them. Also my other Brand new D5000 doesn't have that done to it at all. Also i figure that the seller didn't tell me about this "repair/mod" so why bother asking him now. Im sure he will be oblivious. Anyway, SO, What is this? i notice that the amp turns on but plays when it wants to. sometimes the sound comes through the subs and sometimes it can take up to 10 min for it to miraculously play. Also the bottom cover of the amp had 2 cut outs to accommodate 2 small fans it came with. This mod alone should have raised eyebrows but i didnt bother to worry. Any input? would love to hear from ampjunkielikeme himself.......

Here i have 3 pics of the amp with the issue and the last 2 pics of my new D5000 with nothing done to it.

wow, awesome blurry pics...Ampjunkie is a respected repair guy on here, so I'd be careful about throwing accusations around if I were you. Why don't you PM him and ask him? He knows a hell of a lot more about repairing amps than you do, and I seriously doubt he would be "oblivious."

That wire kind of looks like a ground for the RCAs, maybe the original connection to the amp board was cracked(can happen if your RCA plugs get smushed against something) and that wire is just a new path for the ground on the signal cables.

As far as if the amp wants to play at random, call the repair guy.

Yea no s**t, i get it. i know i f'd up by not testing it sooner. And im not dogging the seller, i just feel that when when i asked him if anything was done to the amp at all, he forgot to mention that he melted the f*** out it with a soldering iron.

Anyway, so i take know one knows what this is? Other than speculation, is there anyone else that knows what this is or has any input on the other problem with the sound??
