Grounding multiple amps

I just got my kicker sx500.2 and i grounded it to the same spot as my other amp. I just took the bolt out and put another ring connector on top of the old and put the bolt back through. Is that alright? Or would using a different spot be better?

Try to keep your amps grounded to the same spot as a rule of thumb.

this is going to sound dumb but, would it be ok if you run the ground wire from the amps to the battery neg ???

for example

power to battery pos

and

ground to battery neg.

yes, always better to ground to neg terminal of ur trunk battery

yes you can ground them there, but not to your battery under your hood. dont make your ground anymore then 18 inches if at all possible. but if you had an extra battery in your trunk then run your ground to that

I was told that grounding to your battery under your hood is actually better and some said it resulted in a .5DB gain.

The longer a wire, the more resistance it has. When a current flows through a resistance, a voltage drop is produced. Because of this, the ground reference at the amplifier's circuit board is no longer the same as that at the chassis of the vehicle. This ground potential differential can lead to noise and improper operation of the amp. it is best to keep you ground as short as possible. not saying it cant be long, but the longer, the bigger the wire, the more money. if you can, get it as short as possible

bood idea or bad to hook up the ground to battery under your hood.

I think blackbonnie has a good point, that why whan you buy a grounding kit it only comes with 5 feet of ground wire.
