i'm fixing to run new 0 gauge power wire, and was thinking of using the old 4 gauge power wire as a ground(off the -batt. terminal), and using my old dist block as a ground dist block, would this be better than grounding off the body. i'm running 3 amps, around 1200 watts. thanks

if you run 0 gauge to all 3 amps, you should run 0 gauge as your ground from the amps, and ground them to the body with as short of a ground wire as possible and in different places... supposively if you run a ground all the way back to the -batt terminal, you can fry your amps and all your electrical system

put your grounds at least 2-3 feet away from your amps.

the guy i bought the amps from said i'd need an alternator, be ruined his, my question is would i benefit any i went with one of the 16 volt batteries, or are they going to require a aftermarket alternator to run anyway.

Whats the output on your alt? 1200 watts shouldn't be too bad, but thats depends on the alt you got now.

you cant say that by the watts...you have to know how many amperes the amplifier sucks out

not sure of the output, it's a 3/4 ton 'burban with a big block, and the towing pkg., i know when i ordered my dodge with the towing pkg it included a higher output alt. guess i'll have to check it the truck had a huge system in it before i bought it but it all got stolen, hoping the alt is aftermkt, but it looks factory
