Ground question

Will I have any problems (noise) grounding my amp to the battery directly, the battery is in the trunk and the ground wire will be about 14" long.

Anyone? The battery is not a second one it is the factory battery. Would it be better to ground to the chassis?

i have always heard that the ground needs to be within 3 feet of the amp, so chassis is what i'd do (if the battery is not near the amp)... be sure to sand the paint off to bare metal wherever you ground it...

I dont think you will have a problem either way.

Since you amp is so close to your battery, I would just go to the battery. 14" is short as heck.

What kind of car? Wired a system up in a cobalt once that had the battery in trunk. Strait to the batt. ground worked great.

My buddys saturn had the battery in the back too. It was the first time I seen that. Kinda through me off lol

Na, grounding to the battery is fine, just make sure the battery has a good ground as well

Thanks for the input, I measure the residence from the ground to the battery and battery to the ground block for the amps and got .001.

I am a fan of wiring the ground to the battery when ever possible. when you are grounding to the chassis all you are doing is using the chassis as a wire. I think that can be a week spot especially in these newer cars were it is less and less metal.

^x2...grounding directly to the battery will be the best option

I have all my amps running directly off my battery and never had any noise issues.
