I have this constant rumbling noise when my headunit is on and the volume is at 0. Especially when I have a cd in even when I have my ipod hooked up. When the headunit is off I still hear the rumbling. When I turn it on instant THUMP THUMP , then the rumbling starts. I changed my ground and it seemed to work for when the radio is on but still the same problem for playing a cd or ipod. Any suggestions?

Kenwood KDC-X492 HEADNUIT, 2 15" Pyle subs (3650 watt) 4000 watt PLA 4478 4 channel amp. I also have pyle mids and highs, they are not hooked up to the amp.

Not here to bash man, but your setup not even marginal, at best. The Hu is decent, but that's all. Have you tried different rca's? Is the amp staying on with the Hu off?

thats fine but you did ask what I had. And it works for me. I'm not here trying to prove anything. I havent tried different RCAs. I did just try grounding the RCAs to the hu and it got rid of the rumbling. I did read that that is a temp fix though.

What I meant by my comment is you will most likely experience issues often, which can be frustrating. If the ground loop worked, then leave it. You did say that the rumbling was continuous with the Hu off?

its cool, I bought the subs off my old neighbor and figured everything would work better if it was all the same brand. Yes the rumbling was still happening when the hu was off. Turn signal, brakes, even tapping on the steering wheel would send noise through the subs.

Definitely a grounding issue, but the bigger concern is the fact that it's still on with the hu off. Did you hook the remote wire from the hu to the amp? You'll end up killing your battery if that amp stays on.

it doesnt stay on when the head unit is off so scratch that last one.

You should DEFINITELY have the remote turn on wire connected to your cd player's remote turn on wire. It's usually blue or blue and white. If you do that when you shut your head unit off your amp will shut off with it.
