gps units under $250

i got a tomtom for xmas, its pretty cool. i never used any other gps units. tho i have ran into a few map problems, like they redid our freeway for the superbowl few years back, those updates r not in the tomtom.

A lot of people like the Tom Tom One, they feel it is easier to use. I dont have one myself, but sell them everyday at work (office depot). I would go far an affordable Tom Tom or Garmin. Most will have spoken directions AND street names, thats what you want is the spoken street names so you dont have to look at the screen all the time (big distraction).

yeah ive never used one before. i dont really do much travelling but i might be goin on a few trips this year out of state so i think one would come in handy but since i wont be using it much i dont want to spend a fortune. i think that the spoken directions is a must.....

the ones that have traffic and weather updates - are those only by subscription?

I might sell my tomtom now that I don't have a car, I got it for christmas also. or maybe I can put it on bicycle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif lol

I have used the Tom Tom One, Magellian Roadmate 1200 and the Garmin 330

I picked the Magellian Roadmate for myself, I paid $150 I think does everything I need and is small enough to put in your pocket if you need to.

Garmin.
First heres why you dont go TomTom.

They are by far the easiest to use.

Only 1.5 million points of interest.

Tele-Atlas the map makers bought the rights to mapquest. So its just mapquest maps.

They break all the time.

Garmin is ftw because they are easier to use. Fastest processors so they can process your route faster and re-routes faster

6 million points of interest

They are fairly reliable and have the best maps out.

Nuvi 200 at BB is 229 I believe.

And for something else to think of: 95% of our GPS returns this christmas have been TomToms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Buy.com has the Nuvi 200 for $187

i would tell you to get a mio.

i got one in 11/2006 before they had a website up that you could really use. now there is a whole lot of info out there to hack them and support stuff.

i have the c310x. it has over 3.5 million POIs. they also have a map update out that i have downloaded and will install at some point.

the only complaint i have is now the battery doesnt last very long, but i can just leave it plugged in the charger anyways. they may even have replacement batteries out now.
