So...driving to class this morning my amp just randomly cuts out. Im thinkin its just a fuse cause i just bought the amp about 2 weeks ago. Its a AQ 1200d. I have a 85 amp fuse under the hood..checked that...not blown.....so i pull the 3 fuses out of the amp to find none of those are blown! then i smell the amp and it smells horrific! AHHHHHH WTF happened. Everthing has been fine for 2 weeks, till this morning. I wasnt even running the amp hard! Anyone have a clue what happened??

wiring is all A ok.....i just hooked up my old fosgate amp and it fired right up! I had the amp mounted to the box....do you think it rattled something loose? Im so stumped right now as to what happened.

Mounting amps to boxes is a big no no. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif Yes it's possible to rattle components loose.

It was only on the box because it was so dang cold these last few weeks and i hadnt gotten the chance to move it. I talked to DJ and i am sending it back in. it just sucks having to run my crappy RF 800 watt amp to my w6s //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Does anyone have an idea as to what happened? I dont understand why no fuses blew! I even had one on the power wire as a precaution....even though in the AQ manual that came with the amp it said a power wire fuse wasn't needed for the 1200d because it has 3 on board fuses! SO WTF happened!

I had my ground wire slip out of its ring terminal and blow the power supply in my JBL BP1200.1, have you checked all the grounds? Give em a little tug to make sure they really are tight.

Where you at in MN?

Im in plymouth. The wiring is all good, like i said before my other amp that i used to run works fine on the same wiring. Just doesnt make sense that the fuses wouldnt blow! Ive had a couple amps arc from the ground to the power before(being careless while installing and never pulled the hood fuse) but all that did was blow the fuses! And i dont see how the ground could've arced to the power this time, nothing was exposed!
