Got my freshly reconed Avalanche 15", doesn't sound right.

You wouldnt know...you didnt try to solve the problem //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I'm going to today //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Gonna either put it in a smaller 1.8-2.0 cube box or add wood to the box to bring it down to that volume.

From my experience, the Hifonics amps also have a real crappy dampening factor. Switching from a BX1000D to a PG Tantrum 1200.1, my bass became much tighter and more accurate.

If you switch both the box and the amp, I'm 100% sure you will love that Avalanche.

So I put it in a ~2.08 cu. ft. sealed box today and it sounds a little cleaner but still has a very undefined boomy sound at 50Hz and below.

The upper bass extension (60-80 Hz) is a little better but it still sounds really loose in the low end.

I know the Hifonics amps aren't the best but I had an IDMAX before hooked up to this same amp before and it sounded tight and clean.

Maybe you simply favor high Q alignments. The Avalanche is a low end monster and doesn't pretend to be anything else. If you are sure that what you are hearing is overhang and not simply a fat low end, then I really don't know what else to tell you other than something is not right.

60-80HZ is getting into midbass range...maybe its not the subwoofer...
