So as the title says...after much research, I finally have most of the major components for my system. The system is going into a 2000 cherokee xj...
For starters...ill list the amps I currently have (Thinking about changing...based on suggestions)
- JL XD400.4
- JBL GTO-5EZ
Front speakers:
- JL c5-650 components
Rear speakers:
- Polk MM651UM (these are actually marine speakers but using them for ease of install, as they have built in crossovers and tweeters mounted on the grill.
Sub:
-Polk SR124 DVC - in 1.30 cu.ft. sealed box with rhino lining.
(Considering picking up a Polk SR104 SVC if this is too loud for my taste...then this sub will be for sale)....I'll prob run the sub at 4 ohms....so i assume just ignore the other set of (+/-) voicecoil
Not looking for a heavy base setup...just good balanced sound quality.
Headunit:
- Kenwood KDC-X997
I'd like to know the best way to hook up the system....
So far this is what I'm planning...
From the headunit I will run 5 rca cables to the amp...from the amp, I will run 14 gauge speaker wire to the designated speakers...4-6 gauge for the sub.
The power will run from battery with ground (frame) and fuse to the amp...
Bare with me guys as this is my first install...ever...
Now when connecting the harness for the head unit....should I just install all the wires. If I remember correctly...using RCA's will bypass the speaker wires on the harness?
Anyways, let me know how this sounds OK...if its worth doing a build thread with pics I may do one, but I feel that my set up seems pretty plain jane...
I will be adding some damping in the front doors and poss. making mounts for the rear speakers...the polk MM's will not allow me to use the factory grills thus you can see the mounting holes, where the factory grills clip into. So need to make a mount that is big enough to cover the holes and fit the speakers......5" thick - 8" outer dia. 5.5" inner dia.
