Got me a yellow top today!

Running an Orion HCCA 275G4, my 80 amp alt just could'nt keep up and killed my battery. I used a multimeter to measure voltage and my voltage went from 14.6 down to 10.4 when bass notes hit. This ended up killing my battery. I got me a yellow top today, and in about a month, I'll be getting a 260 amp alt. HCCA 275G4 is about 1600rms and the XTR 500.4 is about 600rms. Believe it or not, my sub stays off 85% of the time.

have you had your system metered????????? my cousin has 1 orion hcca 15 and a jbl1200.1 with 8 ga battery wire(not big enough) and with his windows up he hit 149.4 with out a bass cd..he left it at home...he used a bone thugs cd...i was impressed...

I have not had it metered yet. This summer I did'nt have it ready for the USAC comp. My box is tuned very low(26hz). For comps I'd tune it to 40hz and let er rip. I'm using dual 1/0 guage to the battery(just got a yellow top today ) and 4 guage going to my amps from my d-blocks. What are the specs on your cousins box? My port is actually too small. I'll make it bigger when the H2s come out

same exact thing with me, except on the way to getting the alternator my car caught on fire and it was decided that i was losing too much heat and energy due to faulty wires and the alternator wasnt needed yet. Every mechanic and audio installer i talked to says that they only way you would need a new alternator is if your current one is under 120 or you have 2 batteries. (or if its bad, obviously)
