Got into accident, will my insurance write me a check? insurance fraud?

if it's just the bumper assembly, on a black vehicle you're not looking at very much...the cover MIGHT reach $250 on an OEM replacement, and you will have very little time for R&R labor, i believe the book will give .4 hours to drop and .4 to reinstall the assembly and considering that it's black the refinish time will be pretty low, probably 1.4 hours...after everything it MAY reach $500 if the replacement is OEM...

i cant check the price right now i have other things going on...but im pretty sure that cover will be pretty cheap...

Go to an aftermarket body parts house or to a local junk yard. You may find a painted fender in decent shape at the junk yard. At the parts house you will probably pay around $150 for a fender and then paint shouldn't be more than $150 also. you can put it on yourself, it's pretty easy with basic hand tools.

If the insured vehicle has a lien holder and the damage exceeds $500 it is mandatory that the lien holder be included on any settlement drafts in all 50 states. In the event that the insured is having the vehicle repaired, the above can be forgone by making payment payable directly to the insureds repair facility of choice (with valid tin).
considering you have no lien holder, they will write it up, and issue the draft made payable to you only for the amount that exceeds your deductible...

should you have to file a claim in the future and if the new damage overlaps the same area from this claim, without documentation of repair they will deduct the previous settlement from the new settlement until sufficient proof of repair is provided...

it will be extremely hard to get dc on a 1998, unless the damage exceeds the ACV of the vehicle or reaches the state requirements for a total loss/salvage vehicle...

I didn't see that the car was a POS to begin with. I bet I could get it though.

the fender alone should not cost anywhere near 150. should be less. i stock oem fender for my 05 civic cost me about 130 iirc.

just wait and see how the check arrives. hopefully it will be a decent amount to cover the fender and labor to paint it and leave you a little extra. if not they couyld under cut it and basically force you to take it into a shop. for instance if they sent you only 500, and a new fender cost 100 but paint and labor if 500 then you will find yourself at a loss.

just wait for the check. if you get it in your name, don't go and imediately cash it. start your research on how much a part cost. call up local paint and body shops and get a rough estimate to how much painting a new fender would cost along with cutting the paint in. after you get a list of quotes match and compare quality to price and work from there.

I had my car parked in front of my house, neighbor's family member backed up into the driver's side door. An appraiser came out to look at the damage. He appraised it for $1400-$1500 (which was very generous). I fixed the door for $700 (overpriced, in my opinion) and pocketed the rest.

I also got rearended yesterday. I don't want to fix my car either... Got police report and everything and his insurance company said to fax them the Police report and at least 2 estimates on cost and they will send me a check.... Hopefully they wont make it out tothe body shop....? What determines if they send a check written to me or my body shop?
