my gf got me an oscilloscope for v-day, but it didnt come with any probes. im just wondering if there are different types of probes. the connections spot looks to be the same as the o-scopes we have used in my different physics/electonics classes. and anyone know if these can be bought at a local store (like radio shack), or do they need to be ordered online. brand and model are :

Hitachi

V-212 20MHz

usually o-scopes just use standard dmm style leads. all the ones ive used have. just pick up the leads from radio shack.

went to radio shack and they didnt even know what an oscilloscope was //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif couldnt find the probes there either. guess i gotta order them.

Radio Hack is turned into cell phones and remote control gizmos.... no longer do they have a knowledgable staff. Does it have a BNC style connector (as most probs I have used for O-Scopes do.) Also, usualy probes for Oscopes are 10X and theres a setting on the scope. Or if you have a really fancy one like I used to use that ran its own windows OS, there was a calibration it ran on itself through the software and attomaticaly set up its attenuation.

Try Frys if theres one arround you

what kind of ****ing radio shack doesn't have dmm leads? ive seen them just like 3 days ago around here.

anyways, from the sounds of it, it looks like it doesn't use a strandard dmm lead anyway. at least thats what im gathering from the other people in this thread.

maybe its just cause the o-scopes (they're scan tools, but of course have an o-scope program) i've used have been for the automotive field (snap-on modis, and otc genisys) so standard dmm leads would be easiest to use.
