Ok, I seem to have either fried my Orion d2400 the other day or it is just on strike. The power still comes on - got power to all terminals/fuses, remote, etc. Just no sound coming out - tested the sub & it is A-ok. So, figured I would contact Orion - gotta wait to get back into town... anyone have some thoughts I do appreciate. I did open the amp & check it out - all internals look new & unblemished. hmmmm,

ok, What I decided was to upgrade to a larger amp. I wanted the Orion d5000 but can't find any cheap. So, found a guy willing to sell me 2 Orion d2400s (figure I could link 'em) for $400 but that would mean extra wires, etc. I just want to plug & play, right...

So, was looking at Hifonics - brz2400d ($400), bxi2607d ($300 - refurb), and MB Quart DSC2000.1d ($285) - all new (1 refurb) with warranty, etc.

Any thoughts or comments would be nice - the sub is an Orion 15.2 (dual 2 ohm VC) - need to run 1 ohm - thnx in advance!

New Hifonics BRZ amps supposedly do rated but I wouldn't buy for the price they want for them brand new, because $400 for a 2000W amp is ludicrous. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif The BXi amp you are looking at is an '07 model and is overrated; simply not worth the money. Finally, the MB Quart amp will do rated power, so that seems like your best bet. I'd also recommend the Audioque 2200D ($389 shipped new, you can find them for $300 in the classifieds if you're willing to buy used).

thnx STILL - I was thinking the same - keep hearing Quart is same as Hifonics just better - like high end Maxxsonics....I was curious of the last few yrs Hifonics amps, cuz either ppl luv em or hate em. I am privi to Orion cuz they were my sponsor yrs ago & kicked *** back in the day - early - mid 90s. Now, they seem kinda weakly built....Maybe Directed taking over wasn't the best (mde in china shit gets me pissed, lol) - I mean that d2400 slammed, but want a little more.

any thoughts on the 2 d2400s for $400? I'm kinda skittish now cuz my amp just stopped - never had that ever happen. Usually Orion is bulletproof! thnx again.

OK, in case anyone may eed this reference in the future... I completely unplugged the Orion d2400 & checked it. I opened the panels & everything looked perfect. I cleaned a small amount of dust/dirt out & replaced all panels. I plugged the amp back into my system. Now it started to work again. Weird. The thing is I know there are failsafes for these amps, but when it goes into protect it has a light. There was no red LED on - the power was (Green LED) though. It should have been working. Ok, Orion does mention that they have no reset button like some amps, but after much research a hard restart may be necessary. This entails disconnecting power for 20-30 seconds & reconnecting power. Just like computer products, etc. It is actually easier for me to remove my 0 gauge from the battery then actually remove the fuse, so there you have it - a toggle wouldn't be a bad idea if you can trust the switch to not go bad (and many would with a large gauge cable running that amount of juice - at least the ones I've found don't even have a recommendation for 0 gauge or make one that large, lol)

Ok, all in all, the amp is back online & slammin!

thanks Still for your recommendation - I will actually sell this amp & get either the MB Quart or the AQ2200D (which looks pretty smooth for the $$$)

another question: between the MB Quart DSC2000.1D ($285) or the AQ2200D ($389) - which is better - more clearly, are they very close to actual RMS & as in longevity - are they similar or os one much better. I can't find much on the AQ. thanks.
