One of my co workers asked me earlier if you have the right to use deadly force if someone breaks into youre house. I wasnt too sure. And I am too lazy to search right now.

I thought you have the right to defend yourself. Especially in your own home. But I am not sure. Can you guys help me out? He would like to know. As well as me

From what I know, you have the right to use appropriate force to defend yourself. If someone breaks into your house, and they find that you shot them in their back while they were running out the door, you might be in some trouble.

I have heard alot of different oppinions on the subject. I have been told that you are supposed to give some sort of a warning before you pull the trigger. Dont know if that is true or not.

But if it were me, I would have to say the warning for the person breaking in my hosue would be the sound of the safety clicking into the fire position lol

i've never actually heard of anyone getting sued for an accident inside someones home. i did hear of a guy who tried to rob a convenience store suing after the clerk beat him down.
