Got a DC dealer in town..

Thats cool, right? Small town, most people here have either Jensen or Sony Xplod systems...What could possibly be bad about getting a solid dealer in town?....When I went in there and saw the prices I gasped. I know that DC does not like direct prices quoted, but these are retail prices so I will state them (if a DC rep would like me to take it off, PM me)...drum roll please.....The LVL 2s STARTED at the 275$ price point, the LVL 3s STARTED at a 360$ price point....I know that DC is a good product, and many people have great success with their subs..but we also have a Treo dealer in town. Treo is notoriously expensive, however, the DC prices are about on par with the Treo dealer. If I am paying 400$ a sub, I am going to run Treo.....The bad part is that I am planning a new build, and am deciding basically between SA 12s, LVL 3 12s and perhaps FI SSD 12s...Now that I can no longer get direct pricing, the DCs are out. I cannot justify paying 360 for DC, when I can get 2 SAs for that price, which are every bit as good, and perhaps even a little better.........That said, some good did come out of this....

There were a few customers that I saw, who were looking for more than an "average" build, who didnt mind paying for a good product, and are likely going to opt for the DCs. (Store is also a Memphis and Diamond dealer). This was an existing shop, and the installer told me that they have recieved more inquires for high level systems since they became a DC dealer, then ever before. In a way, this store will be able to serve the spl and daily ground pound scene, which is great. Our other shop in town is strictly a sq store basically, JL, Treo and Zapco....Despite the fact that the prices are high, I am happy to see a quality product at this store

for the pricing? I agree, there are comparable subs for half that price. Doesnt really matter to me, Ill just run something else...and it ***** that the prices are that high, but for the people that dont care, at least they can get some quality subs in this town now..(although the Treo dealer sells SSi's and SSp's) which are both better then LVL 3s IMHO

Look at Sundown. The SA 12 is like $180 or whatever. The recone kits for the SA-12 are only $30. I bet the motor is about $90-$100 and the rest is profit. Jacob just isnt greedy.

MSRP on a SA 12 is $249, so not far off a lvl 3. Everything I think is subject to your wants and needs. Do you want a sub that handles 2k rms....or do you need a sub that handles 600 rms? Brand is somewhat irrelevant. Comparing the two price wise at msrp is stupid. No one pays that, as shown with the sa 12 at $180....$69 off retail. I am pretty sure if you call Thor or any other DC rep, you can get them much cheaper than msrp as well.

I ain't nut hugging dc, heck, I am selling my dc's to upgrade to customs. But, in the end, buy what you can afford, and what will fit the bill.

No you cannot, If you have a dealer within a 50 mile radius you have to buy from that dealer, you cannot order direct. Plain and simple. With sundown you can get low prices no matter where you live, dealer in your area or not. I think this is the winning strategy. The average person is not part of a car audio forum and does not know about dc's direct pricing. They make good stuff and the average consumer going into the store wanting good stuff will be pushed towards dc. I don't think allowing any person to buy direct would hurt rusty's business much.

But the way he is running it now does, anyone on these forums who knows the direct prices will NEVER pay the prices at a shop, that is why he is so secretive about his prices.
