Got a custom box quote from two local audio shops today

150 is a good price i think for a box. high end shops around here go for 250-300 for really custom boxes, not the run of the mill boxes.

heh,There is a guy on a local surfing message board I belong too,real nice guy.

Anyway he owns his on cabinet buisness and is in to mini trucks and audio.

He said he can either help me with the tools or whatever,just give him the plans.

Anywho I was looking at Moe lester's box plans sticky and cant decide.

The subs are two Alpine SWR-1242D's wired to 2 ohms each and wired to a Lanzar OPTI2000D for a final imedance of 1 ohm and 1692w RMS x 1 channel (850 per sub)

I can't decide if I should go with the 5 cubes Ported and tuned to 34Hz or 4 cubes at 35Hz.

I'd love to but I don't have tools nor do I have the funds to buy the tools necessary.

You can probably get the tools and materials needed for less than $150.

Also make sure they are talking about a FINISHED box, and not just a plain MDF enclosure.

That would be a VERY good price for a CUSTOM built box thats from a shop. Most shops around me want at least $300+ for a ported box.

and asked for a quote on a custom ported 4 cubic foot box tuned to 35Hz first shop said $180 and the second said about $150.

Only big problem here is that I would like to pay less for the box so I can better afford the Lanzar OPTI2000D and not be broke the rest of June.
