Good Sub Box Size?

Setting up my setup here this weekend but first I gotta build me a box. The sub is a JBC 10" 500w DVC subwoofer. (from the 90's, got it for free.) and it is 6" deep. If I make a box that is 1'-1.5" h x 1'-1.5" w x 9" d, would that give me a decent enough bass output? I roughly sketched it on Google Sketch-Up. I'll link it at the bottom... The sub is nowhere to be found on the internet and I have no clue any specs about it besides what I listed above. Thanks!

I feel like I'm thinking too much about this but I'd really like to get it right the first time around...
