Good Sound Quality, Affordable

I wrote all that and you only got the power headunit part...
If your looking for Great sound quality, run active. Run your components off that alpine, they will sound a lot better!

ALL amplifiers have what are called gain knobs, they help you match your input signal in order for your amp to produce its rated power cleanly.

If you dont know what your doing, you can blow even the best speakers with the cheapest amp.

Watch your gains and you'll be alright.
he's a noob to car audio

active should be the last thing on his mind

http://www.la.bbb.org/Business-Report/Dealer-Cost-Car-Audio-100072683read that

if you ever refer someone to that site again i swear i will whois you and then find you and assrape your dog with your own mouth.
never said to buy from that site, just saying the re se's are great subs, i have never bought from them before, id say go with my rsdc phoenix gold subs for 150 shipped, you wont get a better deal then that

maybe he'll look into it and read about it and then post a thread "I'm running active" lol
Im debating whether to finally go active or not. I just got a big belle, so I can either run my comps active or bridge them. Not sure what to do. I am leaning towards just bridging them.

Thanks a lot thats a lot of help. I'm keeping the budget to $400 for the sub and sub amp just because i want to get it in now and will most likely upgrade later. Will the Dayton sub be loud enough? It looks like it gets great reviews from everybody. This seems like a pretty good setup.
Also, would it be smarter to build a box or buy from someone on here?
"Enough" is a very relative and elusive term with no real meaning. Loud "enough" to match the quality and volume of the rest of your system? Yes. Loud "enough" to scare people from blocks away and do hair tricks? No. Be carefull of the "loud" trap. You said you wanted SQ. This will be a good system, and you'll learn what is more important to you for your next set up years from now. Loud or SQ, or spend more so you can have both. I run a single 10" with 400 watts and most of the time it's "enough". Sometimes I wish I had more, but I didn't spend alot of money. I like the SQ and the stealth of not screaming "I have an expensive sound system! Steal me!!!" as I pull into a parking lot. Good front stage speakers are more important to me than loud subs. The links I gave are for a 12" with 600 watts. If you hunt around you might find better/bigger but I know that would be a good start.

If you have a garage and have, or can borrow some basic tools I suggest you build a box. It's not hard and it's a great learning experience. I'm sure if you ask around you can find someone to help you. If you live in an apt or are retarded with tools then get someone to build it for you. It shouldn't cost too much.
