Good Sound Quality, Affordable

I am somewhat new to car audio and was looking to see what subs would be right for me. I'm looking for good clean sound quality but also want them to be fairly loud. I'm willing to spend about 400 dollars for the just the subs.

I have a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta and I'm currently running:

two alpine type-r component speakers in the back of my car and

two infinity components speakers in the front.

Pioneer head unit

Alpine MRP- F250 4-channel Amp:crap:

I have been looking at the 12 inch Alpine Type-r and the JL Audio 13W1v2-4 but im not really sure.

That amp isn't going to do much if you plan on hooking it to subs. If you have $400, do 2 ported 12's and amp. Look into 2 Cerwin-Vega V-MAX124 or 2 P3d412's and a BXi1210d amp. That's less than $400 on ebay. It will be plenty loud.

So your running your components off your headunit? In order to get good sound quality, you need decent midbass in order for your sub to blend well and not drown out the mids. I do not recommend running a sub off an A/B class amp only because of efficieny.

Look into, JL Audio w6vs line, Image Dynamics all their subs are very good subs for the price, FI q, I would not use type-r's or w1's they do get fairly loud, the type r will do t he w1, but they just didnt sound good to me. Your enclosure has a lot to do with the final sound of the sub.

i love the zeus ( not just cuz i sell them either because i sell kicker polk pioneer ect as well - about 30 brands )

they have great sq and get very loud as well. i would compare a zeus to a w3 on sq and the output of a p2 or p3 easily.

Do the Zeus take their rms, and how much better are the Brutus subs? Are the Zeus better than cvr's?

Yeah the guy who put the components in said I didn't need the amp because it would blow the speakers.

for 360 shipped with warranty i could do a gpv 2000.1 and 2 12" zeus subs but ebay is good for prices just no warranty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
That seems like a good deal but I am sketchy about the zeus subs. Do they really have as good of sound quality as a w3? Would i be better off with the gpv 2000.1 and 2 12" w3's? Or maybe the gpv 2000.1 with 1 12" w6v2?

the zeus will take 750-800 rms easily //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

the brutus are louder and take alot more power but the zeus is the better sq sub

a gpv2000 does 1200 rms at 1 ohm so i doubt a w6 would live long unless you did it at 2 ohms. 2 zeus on 1200 rms is better than 1 w6 for volume but the w6 has better sq for sure.

I vote a single 12" or 15" to save money on multiple woofers and a decent amp (maybe mb quart, aq, etc)

Maybe a DC Level 3, Fi Q or BL for sub options.

You can use your 4channel to amp your components. just watch your gains. amps help speakers, even stock speakers, the end. too much power or clipping is what will kill speakers. 18rms from a headunit is not what those speakers want.
