Front- JL Audio component speakers XR650-CSi

Rear- Infinity Kappa 693.7i

It is OK equipment. It a lot of your setup depends on how everything is installed, deadened, and tuned.

Now invest some money into great head. Remember that the goal of amplifiers and speakers is only to reproduce the signal without adding anything else to it. If you have junky signal without tuning capabilities, no matter how good the rest of your system is, it is not going to sound to its full potential. It is great idea to built system around a HU.

With what you already have, you are looking at $500+ HUs

You don't have to spend 500+. For HU just find a deal on a Eclipse 8445, 8455, 7000 or mabey a 5000. Pioneer 880, 980, 9800 and there are some others. Clarion DXZ955MC. Alpine 9855 mabey.IMO

You have some very nice equipment. The JL stuff is great, I do know about the infinity you have never heard them, a lot of people like the brand though.

Got my HU from Akslopok for 2 hundy. Just check with your buds and see if they have anything available.

Eclipse is cd8445 and 55 will do the job just fine. If you shop at ebay, you can have mint head like that for under $200. I had cd8445 HU and I was not very happy with it because all of the sound enhancement features were useless because they screwed mp3s beyond recognition -basically will have to turn off all sound processing. Time alignment is hilarious because it only offers you 3 or 4 presets (car, van, and truck) or something like that. The only useful feature is 7-band parametric equalizer.

If I were you I would go with something like clarion dzr9255 so that you know that your signal is clean to begin with + you have plenty of adjustments to fine tune your music and it is all done digitally. If you plan to add a dedicated mid-bass drivers for the front stage, you can also set this HU to 3-way mode and use a built-in 3-way crossover to run your speakers actively.

thanks for the advice everybody and i already have a HU which is the Pioneer 880. bought it like a month ago
