The type-r will get low and loud and decent sound quality for the price. The amp is a decent 400W amplifier. A single type r would work well with that amp. Something you need to do though, build the box or have one built. Don't buy a prefab box... you will be happier with the results. For a first system, it's a decent setup.

BTW - There are several people selling perfectly good 12" type rs on the forums here. Ask around and check the F/S section to save some cash.
