Good place to start?

I'm trying to get into home audio more and more and was wondering where I should start to read up on equipment such as receivers, speakers, pre-amps, amplifiers... and what not. I know most of the basics such as 5.1 and 7.1 systems, but wanted to know more about crossovers, possible speaker building, and what the hell a preamp does //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Just wondering if there are any good wiki's or sites I should start. I just realized that putting money into a car that gets driven once or twice a week for 15 min is silly and what I really need is a nice home system. Thanks

There are a lot of people on here who have good knowlage. But if you want to just do some reading about receivers and speakers and DIY I would check out AVS Forum, HT Guide, and HT Shack.

Just google them and you can find them.
